The importance of evolutionary change.
Incorporating an evolutionary change mindset in organizations today is a great challenge. For several years, the vast majority of organizations have been going through transformation processes to keep up with technological changes that have a profound impact on the development and continuity of their business. In this context,
transformation projects are executed where the need and speed of change is so disruptive that the result of these projects is rarely what the managers of an organization expect.
While disruptive change seeks to revolutionize the way the organization operates, evolutionary change seeks to make continuous and incremental adjustments to processes and people behaviors to generate progressive adoption in the organization. The differential of progressive change is that, when co-designed with people, it becomes a valuable and significant change for the organization. To borrow a phrase from Jason Little´s book - Lean Change Management: "People who build the plan, don´t resist the plan"; which helps to perceive change as valuable and boost sustainable adoption.
A minimum viable solution – SMV – challenges us to learn how to think and design a solution in a specific context of the organization, but also how to identify what is the minimum viable and feasible evolutionary change to start with the transformation process.
Managing transformations by SMV allows you to obtain visible business results in a
progressive and incremental way.
